CHANNEL M
madhavanQ: Why the nickname Maddy? Is there a mad streak in you?
A : Yes there is, though not too many people get to see it. When I'm mad you'd better not cross my path. I have a bad temper. But it takes a lot to get me so worked up. I am not a wacky person and like to dress and live normally. I don't wear clothes that will make me stand out. I feel it's what you do that speaks for you. In fact I am quite a coward because I am scared of indulging in all things which film stars do, like buying a big car, I am happy the way I am. - Nov' 2000 - G

MADHAVAN'S DREAM ROLE
madhavanIn an interview for the Indian Movie News, Madhavan says about his dream role ,"I would like to do a role that is as real as possible. See Cast Away, there is a man who has lost 30 kgs for the sake of a film and genuinely portrayed the plight of the character. To concentrate on one film and give as realistic a performance as possible is my dream." - Indian Movie News May 2001

A RIGHT PERFORMER

madhavanS. A. NATHAN, the editorial director of Indian Movie News, while answering says,
Q : Will Madhavan come up in the market?
A : The chances for that are many, because all his films were a big hit. He has conquered the hearts of all the guys and gals. Generally stars who possess both talent and luck can strike the market., which Madhavan has - Indian Movie News May 2001

AIYYO MAD, MAD, MADDY
madhavanHe is full of contradictions. Cocky about his success in television; humble enough to admit that things may not work the same way in movies, after all. Yet, the next moment he says he will 'whack' the Hindi film industry. But one thing is for sure - he has his head firmly on his shoulder. Busy as he is, we had to trudge all the way to the shooting spot for an interview.
Q: What was your reaction when you saw your posters all over the city?
A: It was an humbling experience. I expcted to feel ecstatic, but I felt so underserving.

ZELL ......

madhavan"I'm a bit tired of being compared, now. At one point, they called me the Hrithik Roshan of South, now i'm Shah Rukh Reborn. But Shah Rukh vied and struggled hard to reach where he is today. And Hrithik was an industry child. He prepared for five years before his first film. I did none of these".
"I wouldn't want to even inadvertently give my wife any feeling of insecurity. So I make sure we are together every opportunity we get. I won't say I'm doing this for her. We are doing it for each other." - STAR DUST JUNE 2001.

PRACTICAL MAGIC
madhavan

"Mark my words," says Vashu Bhagnani excitedly about Madhavan. "This guy's gonna be real big. He's here to stay ". Vashu Bhagnani had been in touch with me for almost eight months. I was a little skeptical right from the beginning. I didn't know why a Hindi film wallah was approaching me, in the first place.
"By the grace of God, I've had four releases in the South and all of them have been kick-ass successes. I'm more than touched by it, I really am. The only thing that I can pride myself on is that I made some correct decisions" - STAR DUST JUNE 2001.

PICTURE PERFECT
madhavan

Rajeev Masand meets Madhavan, Bollywood's newest feel good factor - For couch potatoes, especially in the North his name recalls the good natured Ashley from Banegi Apni Baat and sundry other characters in serials like Sea Hawks, Ghar Jamai etc. In Chennai, hysterical teenage fans answer to him as the handsome hero of Maniratnam's runaway hit Alaipayuthe

HOT. SEXY. UNSTARRY.

Former tele-star Madhavan has become an icon in the south. Maniratnam's new protege is Chennai's current fad. The craze he generates in the South is being compared to the kind Hrithik Roshan did with his first movie. Madhavan, whom college going teenagers refer to as 'Maddy' is truly happening. Maddy is a social person, young, energetic, charming , thoroughly snazzy and suave - SOCIETY EXPRESS

COOL... COOLER... COOLEST...

He is married, but still has managed to capture the younger girls, guess why ? 'coz he was honest about it (clever dude hah!). This sensible guy has given us the most sensible answer everytime in cool, honest, sensible and of course happening - TAKE 2

SENSE 'N SENSIBILITY ....

What Mani appreciates about Madhavan is his passion for acting. He would memorize the script backwards, even other people's lines! He would be on the set every single day whether the scene warranted his presence or not.

HEART THROB HERO

madhavanBeing in people's heart is more important than being their heart throb.I don't want to call them my fans. If I call them so I am delegating myself to a higher position than them. I would like to call them people who appreciate my work and more as my friends. Answering about his love experience he says, "I just fell in love with one girl and she is supposed to be my wife. She was a student of mine" - Maddy.
