The marriage of Adityan (Madhavan) a fun-loving youngster and Ganga (Jyotika), a high-spirited village belle is fixed by their parents. Adityan, who is reluctant to take on a lifelong commitment, concocts plans to sabotage the marriage. Ganga cooperates with him as her dream of becoming an engineer is in jeopardy. They succeed in their efforts of thwarting the marriage plans. Ganga joins an engineering college in the city to pursue her education and bumps into Adityan...

If you lived through the plot line we are sure you will survive the film too. As the name of the movie suggests, the whole hullabaloo starts with the marriage fixed between Madhavan and Jyotika by their parents. Madhavan, unwilling to give up his bachelor's free life, is more than happy to find that Jyotika is also not interested in the marriage. She wants to pursue her dream of pursuing a degree in engineering. So they put their heads together to derail the marriage; what follows is a series of hilarious events. Finally, when the two accept each other and are ready to go ahead with the marriage, a slight spark is lighted, and the elders for some strange reasons of their own call off the marriage. So Madhavan comes back to the city to continue with his life; Jyotika also comes to the city to pursue her studies. Though the two families have technically broken all bonds, Madhavan keeps helping out Jyotika and both enjoy each other's constant company. While the families settle their issues and differences and agree to get back together, now there is a slight misunderstanding between the young couple due to circumstances. So do they finally get back together or not?
